Font hinting and Linux Chrome

Here are some lines in my ~/.fonts.conf that made Google Chrome text rendering look one billion times better:
  <match target="font">
    <edit name="autohint" mode="assign">
      <bool>true</bool>
    </edit>
    <edit name="hinting" mode="assign">
      <bool>true</bool>
    </edit>
    <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle">
      <const>hintslight</const>
    </edit>
  </match>
