I had heard that new IMAX theaters aren't "real" IMAX in some way, because while they're bigger than normal theater screens, they're smaller than the IMAX theaters you might have gone to at the Boston Museum of Science.

I went and saw Avatar in IMAX 3D at the Saco IMAX theater and while I didn't really like the movie, the IMAX is of sufficiently awesome size and quality that anyone who bitches that it's not real is just a whiner.

Also, I got to Saco an hour before the afternoon showtime and I was still 60th in line, and by showtime the line had filled all the space in the lobby, Peano-style. This was six weeks after the movie opened.
