Lisp in Small Pieces for Small Prices

For some reason, amazon.ca has Lisp in Small Pieces by Christian Queinnec for CDN$3.95. A guy I know ordered it and he reports it's a full, normal copy. I think LiSP is a very nice book, so if you were deterred by the price (other stores have it for between US$50 and US$100), this is a good way to get a cheap copy.

update Apparently people are taking advantage:

Lisp in Small Pieces is currently #4 #2 #1 on Amazon.ca's top selling books list.

(This is cool news, but my excitement was dampened when a little Amazonian bird told me amazon.com does more business in 30 minutes than amazon.ca does all day. But still! LiSP is big in Canada!)

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently reading SICP, Practical Common Lisp, and On Lisp so this will be a nice follow-up. Lisp is very interesting.

I've been looking for a reasonably priced copy for a while. Thanks for the info.

For what it's worth, I ordered it at 2:30 EST today (Aug. 8) and it still showed a price of $3.95 CDN.

And as for the lack of business on Amazon.ca, it probably doesn't help that Amazon.ca has considerably less to buy than Amazon.com. That, and the population thing. :)

I ordered it. Just in case someone is interested, this book also costs CDN $3.95: http://www.amazon.ca/Probability-Theory-E-T-Jaynes/dp/0521592712/ref=sr_1_1/702-5191728-6296049?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186609548&sr=8-1

Hum... if it is a price error, isn't Amazon going to notice an unexpected rush on this book (especially now that it sells more than both editions of Harry Potter 7) and cancel the corresponding orders?

Dunno about in a case with THIS many orders, but I know when I ordered a Python book and they had a $10+ mistake they honored it and just corrected the price but left my order alone.

That's hilarious... I noticed that too, and blogged about it: http://www.danielharan.com/2007/08/09/lisp-in-small-pieces-beats-harry-potter-in-bestseller-list/

Re: the price error, they legally have to honour the price they gave. They may change the price now that it's #1 (it would be hard not to notice), but as I mentioned in my blog entry, it could be an end of run sale in preparation for the second edition.

I'd like to buy this version, but to send it here (FR) its too expensive, i'll have too find 100 buyers :D

By "FR", do you mean France? If so, you can get the new edition of the book, in its original French, from Paracamplus (http://www.paracamplus.com/) for just 34€ (it's well worth it).

It might look silly, but i already have the paracamplus edition.. I thought having the first edition in english could be funny (i'm a bit fanatic sometimes)

but thanks for the information, by the way, the paracamplus edition is the revision 2 of "Lisp In Small Piece" and some guys told me that there was nearly no differencies except 2 bug fixes and some 'actualisation'.
