My little sister has moved to
the Dominican Republic to kickstart a private school. She ran into a
group of partying gringos last night and they mentioned a wealthy new
neighbor building a big house a bit down the
road: Spencer
Kimball. When I think of Spencer Kimball, I think of "GIMP
cocreator", but apparently the gringos mentioned him as "the Google
guy".
Sometimes I do think of him as "the Orkut guy", since he had a
photo
on the
front page of orkut for a long time. (He's on the upper left.)
Anyway, it was weird to see
some ancient
history come up again after ten years in a completely different
context.
